On the Cusp
Moving into 2025
It’s been a funny old year all things considered. There have been highs and lows, wins and looses as well as a fair few what the hell just happened sideswipes to add to the experience.
I’m not one for making massive “new years resolutions” partly because I believe that any day can be the day for a change to be made, partly because I feel putting all that pressure on oneself to push into high levels of change in the middle of winter when every other creature is in energy saving mode, hibernating or at least moving slowly to preserve resources in the leaner months of winter.
However, now that I have said that, I do like to reflect on the past year and set intentions for the coming year. 2024 has been to put it in no uncertain terms Brutal, its thrown many tests at me and whilst I believe I have endured and overcome them coming out with new perspectives and lessons, I can’t help wondering if maybe I could of benefitted from gentler lessons.
In 2024 I completed various trainings and qualifications which in 2025 I intend to fully utilise to offer a range of workshops, eBooks, face to face sessions as well as digital/hybrid interactions to encourage folks to spend more time looking after their mental wellbeing through connecting with nature. Already I am enthused by this and the offerings are brewing in the background of my mind.
I am hopeful to be able to stretch my offerings and my reflections more in 2025, moving further into the merits of time in nature for wellbeing as well as supporting people to move further along in their own journeys.
(I should probably do some sort of sales pitch point here but i’ll save this for another day)
For now i will instead of telling all or trying to get sales, invite you, if you are so inclined to spend a little time in nature, see what reflections of 2024 may strike you and what hopes or ideas you have brewing for 2025.
Remember any day can be day one for change and we are still held in the belly of winter, a time we, as animals are designed to linger by the fire in the warm venturing out of our dens only for the crucial and necessary actions. If you aren’t feeling the need to boost your productivity, loose weight, diet, punish yourself with unrealistic goals then you should listen to the advice you are receiving from yourself and simply choose not to, don’t let the external world influence or make you feel like your own feelings are not valid or legitimate.
In 2025 I fully intend to commit more frequently my thoughts and trainings into words on the screen, bringing regular articles and reflections on this. First off will be my musings on the importance of rest and how time in nature can enhance the rest we need.
For now, I shall sign off with a wish of a happy new year, that 2025 brings you all that you wish for and need, as well as a sincere hope we can at some point spend time besides the fire together.
